Guided by Connor M. Join me to discover the hidden wilderness of Mt. Olympus on a intermediate hike
Service Description
The Mount Olympus Wilderness is a beautiful cove of canyons, mountains, gorgeous trees, and remarkable sights of the valley Salt Lake City sits in from the top of the hike. The route of hiking will take place on Neff's Canyon trail which will include a 3-mile hike to the beginning of the city overlook and an additional and optional 0.5 miles to access a ride that provides a more beautiful elevated view. Located at the top of the hike, there is an old water trough that catches the freshest and coldest mountain water in the area. Another 0.5 miles past the water trough is an access trail to summit Wildcat Ridge that will offer Westward views of Salt Lake City and Eastward views of the Big Cottonwood Canyon wilderness. This hike is a moderate to advanced rated hike due to the estimated three hours of hiking with a sustained elevation gain of about 1,035 feet of elevation gain per hour. Join me to discover the secluded wilderness of Mount Olympus on a moderate to advanced hike. Through effort and ambition, we will reach a refreshing mountain spring to top off water bottles and splash on ourselves to cool some steam off. I will supply: Sunscreen (SPF 30 & 50), Bug spray, 2 extra granola bars per guest, an extra liter of water to share, and a spacious hiking backpack(I am not a pack mule, but can carry additional guest items if necessary). Based on the guests, I can provide a singular refreshment for each guest of their preference (sometimes a beer or sports drink at the top is the best remedy to hiking back out). You should bring: About 2 liters of water for oneself (Camelbak's are great), packable snacks/fruits (easily digestible), hat, sunglasses, air-wicking t-shirt, comfortable shorts (recommended air-wicking as well), hiking-designed hip-pack, small to medium backpack. Note about location: This address will bring you to the trailhead of Neff's Canyon Trail. To access this trailhead from the Belt Route (I-215 North or South), you will need to use Exit 4/3900S. From there, you will venture uphill through some neighborhoods. Drive slowly as some of the neighborhood roads begin to narrow and begin to wind a bit. Continue uphill until reaching an open parking lot. Hiking background is highly recommended Acclimatization to elevation is recommended Ability to physically exercise and exert oneself for sustained time Open to working hard to enjoy one's accomplishment
